Beyond the reality of Creole languages, the process of Creolisation is an expression of the unpredictable and dynamic change which comes into being when different cultures and cultural practices meet. The Antillan philosopher and writer Édouard Glissant who died in early 2011, is one of the most important intellectual thought leaders regarding questions of postcolonial identity and culture theory. Out of the analysis of Creolisation, he developed an extensively relevant model of society, a »poetics of relation«, which understands identity as the result of numerous relationships.

The screening of the film documentary on Édouard Glissant is followed by a talk with Gilles Yovan, philosopher and editor-in-chief of the Parisbased magazine und collective of the same name, Les Périphériques Vous Parlent: how can our relation with the Other be thought as initially fragmented and reassembled? And which implications and challenges arise from this for contemporary artistical and cultural practice?
